Our mission at ETS is to empower individuals on the autism spectrum and their families through inclusion, advocacy, and friendship throughout the state.
We are a 501(c) 3 non-profit serving New Mexico’s autistic community.
What We Do
At ETS, we aim to elevate individuals on the autism spectrum, their family members, educators, professionals, and community members through education, support, and advocacy both in person and virtually across New Mexico.
Our members can be found on-line during our monthly meet ups and, hopefully soon, at one of our many inclusive, educational, and fun events!
You can also find us on school boards, education task forces, state disability councils and championing for developmental disability advancements at the capital.
Happening This Month
-It’s October! This month we are excited to bring a few family events to celebrate the spooky holiday season. On Oct 8th we will be hosting early access sensory hour at Galloping Goats Pumpkin Patch from 8-9 am. Entrance is free to ASD individuals and families. Goat feed and small pumpkins are free to each child and autistic person. Please RSVP at ElevateTheSpectrum@gmail.com. On Saturday October 30th we will be at Haynes Park in Rio Rancho for our annual Truck or Treat. No RSVP is needed and all are welcomed! Please see our event flyer for information or check out our social media pages!
-We are continuing our monthly group meets for dads, moms, and self-advocates, both in-person and virtually, and as always, are happy to welcome everyone. Due to the ever-changing public health orders, Elevate members are closely monitoring the current situations and would like to advise that there may be changes to our in-person groups. We do ask that all in attendance please adhere to public safety measures. To stay up to date, please follow us on Facebook and Instagram or email us at ElevateTheSpectrum@gmail.com to join our mailing list.
-Elevate is continuing its mission of supplying HERO kits to first responders around New Mexico. Currently, almost 200 bags have been donated to the City of Rio Rancho and we are now filling request for Bernalillo County Sheriffs and Fire & Rescue units. We are also donating 30 kits to the Santa Fe Public School Guards during a training with the Autism Plus Team from UNM’s Center for Development and Disability on Oct 21st. These bags contain fidget tools, custom communication boards, headphones, and white boards to assist individuals with sensory and communication needs. Along with the bags is a training video for 1st responders to educate them on the need for and proper use of the tools.
We are extremely excited as we continue working to expand the program around the state with the goal of every rescue unit having the tools and training needed to best serve NM’s Autistic community.
-COMING UP: Next month we are super excited to hold our first Bosque Beard Competition at Bosque Brewing. We would like to thank and recognize The Bearded Villains New Mexico Chapter, Bosque Brewing Co., GIBS Grooming, Aces Tattoo, and Full Spectrum Photography for their donations and support!
– Elevate would like to remind everyone that Aces Tattoo, recently voted BEST OF THE CITY by Albuquerque The Magazine, is continuing to support us through their year-long Autism Awareness Tattoo campaign. This is an on-going partnership where Aces will donate portions of autism themed tattoos to sponsor our inclusive events. Please visit their page at https://www.facebook.com/AcesTattoo/ to inquire.
-As we look forward in continuing to plan more inclusive, family events, please be advised that we take the health and safety of our families and members as priority and as such, we will continue to monitor and follow all public health guidelines and would like to thank you for your understanding.
-Please follow our social media pages for information, inspiration, and resources and feel free to share your thoughts and stories to ElevateTheSpectrum@gmail.com
